What I GOT are some gates/fencing made of STEEL. Each gate weighs 1200 POUNDS and NO one can open when it gets breezy, let alone WINDY!!!!!!! That slam your hand, child, CAR, or adult IN the gates....as they become a WINDSAIL...like on a SHIP and NOTHING can hold them back. HE REFUSES to make them 7 foot, arched and painted per contract. HE had some workers ( that were SUB contractors and NOT his employees covered by workmans comp, insurance as PER OUR contract, according to the Ca Contractor's Board...) SPONGE paint my wrought iron mesh and fencing, gumping up all the holes...so you could see big blotches of paint...and then took an ice pick for four days and punched the holes out (now they are showing metal and are misshaped...) INSTEAD of sandblasting OFF the paint and SPRAYING the paint on properly.
HE will NOT give you the mandated "end date" ...the estimated date of completion but keeps telling you it will be a matter of "days"...3-4...but after 8 weeks STILL NOT done. Asks for deposits WAY over the 10% or 1000.00 whichever less that is ALLOWED by law for CALIFORNIA licensed CONTRACTORS>>asks for progress payments BEFORE The materials are delivered and the work is done. Has a hand printed contract with NO logo , letterhead, the mandated DISCLOSURES about how his sub contractors can PLACE a LIEN on your home if HE doesn't pay them...doesn't give you their names, or the money amount they are to receive, so you can make the check out to BOTH the subs AND him...

HE said he doesn't have "TIME FOR PAPERWORK"...?????? HE just changed height, no arches, adds gates and anything ELSE without consulting you. Comes NIGHT or day , SAT or SUN..without warning to WORK (leaves workers on your property ) with NO bathroom ( I rented construction portable bathroom)...NEVER comes when he says he will..WHOLE days go by and NO show, NO call, NO text..NOT even a smoke signal. Tells you he doesn't have to follow the safety and building specs for the California Code.....??????
DO not use him!!!!!!!!!!!! Has NO "portfolio" but some pictures of two pools he did...and that is IT.
The GATES I wanted, and contracted for ( but with solid or small hole mesh in middle)
The gates he must have had lying around ( from a construction site or dumpster surrounds) that he brought TO MY PROPERTY "all ready MADE" with NO sketch, no input, no picking out of ornamentation, spindles, swirls, top circles, spikes OR ANYTHING. Just plunked them down. Wrong size wrought iron spires, Wrong size posts, wrong height, NO arch, Added walk thru gate with NO price or permission from me ( we'd have been TRAPPED otherwise whenever it got windy). Will take $4000 commercial heavy duty electric openers to open this weight/size/height gates out here in WINDMILL country ( Cabazon-Banning border). HE KNEW I did not even want an estimate for electric gate openers, as I wanted MANUAL gates...they have NO handles, NO wires/lines to HOLD them or OPEN them in the wind. YOU can't get the iron post out of the driveway lifted UP as it is NOT right size and it nearly cuts your hand IN TWO when it finally pulls free. NO subcontractor mandated warnings on the contract..letting me know WHEN he does NOT pay his subcontractors, they can file a LIEN on my property...etc. etc. etc.
